We are pleased to inform you that the production version of the Logitech mouse and the CH Products analog joystick will soon be in the consumer market.  To encourage support of our extended line of peripherals (control pads, light guns, mice, analog joysticks), we have worked closely with American Laser Games, Logitech, and CH Products to provide you with all the necessary components free of charge, effective immediately.

The manufacturers for the peripherals listed below have all agreed to provide free hardware to any developer who wants to include support for their peripherals.  All peripheral drivers currently reside on the Portfolio CD.  Through December, we will post new example code, documentation, and any updated drivers on the InfoServer in the "Developer Area: Operating System: 3DO Sample Code" directory.  We will then incorporate all of this software and documentation with the Portfolio CD starting with the next release.

If you previously purchased a Mouse or Joystick DPK, you will automatically receive an upgrade to the production version from the appropriate vendor listed below within the next few weeks.  Please call them directly if you have any questions.  We will also provide instructions on returning your existing DPKs so that we can ensure you are usiing only the latest, full-functioning peripherals.

  19. Light Guns
  20. Contact John Leach from American Laser Games at (505) 837-5414 to obtain a free copy of the GameGun for 3DO systems.  These light guns have been in the U.S. consumer market since June '94.  Plans for rolling them out internationally are still being discussed.

  23. Contact Jonathan Miller from Logitech at (510) 713-4494 to obtain a free copy of the Mouse for 3DO systems.  These mice have will be available in the Japanese consumer market in November.  Plans for rolling them out to the U.S. are still being discussed.

  25. Extended Joysticks
  26. Contact Rick Salvador from CH Products at (619) 598-2518 to obtain a free copy of the Flightstick Pro for 3DO systems.  These extended joysticks will be available in the U.S. consumer market in November.  Plans for rolling them out to the Japan, Europe, and Korea are still being discussed.
